JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the medical assistant assists in the delivery of patient care. The medical assistant works collaboratively with the medical provider to meet patient needs.

Schedule:

Compensation:

• $21.20/hr + DOE
• PRN Differential
• Shift Differentials

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares equipment and aids healthcare provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
2. Records patients’ weight, blood pressure, pulse, height and other vital signs.
3. Administers ordered immunizations and treatments under direct supervision of a licensed practitioner.
4. Oversees registration of patients.
5. Cleans surgical supplies in preparation for sterilization offsite.
6. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information as appropriate.
7. Responds to and refers incoming phone calls appropriately.
8. Performs CLIA waived testing.
9. Performs EKGs.
10. Obtains blood samples using appropriate venipuncture and/or capillary puncture techniques.
11. Instructs patients in the proper collection of urine samples.
12. Obtains throat and nasopharyngeal samples.
13. Responsible for completion of required educational competencies.
14. Responsible for attending mandatory in-service classes.
15. Accepts accountability for own actions.
16. Actively participates in Performance Improvement.
17. BLS certification.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for attending at least 90% of nursing staff meetings.
2. Completion of all required educational competencies.
3. Attending all mandatory in-service classes.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

1. Ability to treat all information as confidential.
2. Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
3. Current BLS certification or successfully obtain within 6 months of hire.
4. Must obtain Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology within 1 year of hire.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
2. Detail oriented.
3. Positive attitude and flexibility during routine workday.
4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
